Biolage R.A.W. Hair care line

Real. Authentic. Wholesome.

As you may have read in my “about” section, I am a hairstylist. I have been in the industry for about six and a half years. I worked my way from a junior stylist to senior stylist, to manager and now I work in a location where I work independently (similar to booth renter situation.) Recently, I was contacted by Biolage by Matrix, and they have sent me some products to try and share with you!

Biolage’s new R.A.W. line contains “raw” ingredients. According to the Matrix website, Biolage Raw, is a 70-100% natural-origin haircare line. The R.A.W. line is silicone, sulfate, paraben and artificial colorant- free. I think these words are music to a hair stylist’s ears!

This line is eco-friendly! The products themselves are 100% biodegradable and it will cause 0% harm to the environment. The products are derived from nature and the packaging of R.A.W. products are made of post-consumer recycled plastic (PCR). These bottles can be reused! Some examples of the raw/natural ingredients in these are Honey, Coconut Oil, Grapefruit, Kiwi, Yucca, Shea Butter, Olives, Ginger Root, and many others.

What Biolage sent me:

  • Color Care Shampoo & Conditioner
  • Uplift Shampoo & Conditioner
  • Heat Styling Primer
  • Re-hydrate Clay Mask
  • Re-Bodify Clay Mask
  • Curl Defining Styling Butter
  • Color Care Acidic Milk Rinse (professional use only)
  • and some other goodies… thank you BIOLAGE franz!

Elements of these products that I was looking for was-

  1. “A Unique Sensorial Experience”
  2.  “True Professional Results” including- overall health and feel of my hair. How does my color appear after washing and conditioning?
  3. What can I really do with these bottles afterward!?

Typically, I wash and condition my hair about every 4 days on average. Please tell me that you knew it was best to wash your hair less? I cringe when someone tells me they wash every day!

First, I’m trying the Color Care Shampoo & Conditioner. Then prepping my hair with the Heat Styling Primer.

Wow. Serious suds.

The first thing I noticed when I started to wash, was how little of shampoo I could use. Just about the size of a quarter. The shampoo spreads and suds up well, so this product will last long! Often, when I hear someone tell me that they do not use a professional shampoo & conditioner because they’re too expensive, my first thought is, “you’re using too much & washing too often.” I have shoulder length hair, medium density, and my last set of shampoo & conditioner just ran out 4/27/18. I purchased the set in December!

After using these products for a few weeks, I have honestly noticed my hair looking & feeling healthier. My color is shining, and I am just loving these products! I love that they are healthy for me & my hair, and the environment!

I tried to be cute, and make a heart…

Let’s do this right

When washing, start with a quarter size amount of product. Instead of starting at the top of your head, spread the shampoo onto both hands. Start one hand in the back, and one on top so it is applied evenly, and focus on scrubbing your scalp and roots, not mid-shaft and ends unless you are using a heavy product. As your suds wash down your hair when rinsing it should grab and wash away any remaining product.

Then, try the opposite for conditioner. Focus the product in midshaft to ends. Before reaching for more product, try using a plastic wide tooth comb in the shower, to work the conditioner through more.

Hair mask time!

I next sampled the Re-Hydrate Clay Mask. This mask did help to hydrate my hair. After washing & conditioning, I applied the mask evenly to my hair, using a wide tooth plastic comb to distribute the product. Avoid root area. I left the mask in for about 5 minutes and rinsed This helped to condition and re-hydrate my strands. My hair is thin, so I would only do a hair treatment about every 4 washes which is typically the span of 2 weeks. For thicker and compromised hair, you can use this treatment for often!

How I am re-using the bottles

I love the shape of the shampoo & conditioner bottles. I have not finished using my product yet, but here are some of my ideas to reuse these bottles!

  • use as a holder for small doggie treats for visits to the dog park
  • use as a holder for small doggie treats in my car
  • use as a holder for small craft items (pins, paper clips, pens, buttons, etc.)

any ideas for me?

I cannot wait to continue using Biolage R.A.W hair products. They have sent me so many others to try!! But, for not I HAD to share my results with you all because these products are amazing!
